Daniel Astuy

Daniel Astuy, born in Madrid, Spain. His history regarding diving comes from a family tradition. His grandfather, Fidel Astuy, was a classic diver for more than 20 years. Daniel lives with him for 12 years in Santander, and his influence is decisive for diving to be his passion and his job today.

During his childhood and adolescence, he practices a variety of sports, competing in some, such as cycling, athletics, climbing, skiing, surf, etc.

From 2000 to 2004, he works for a company dedicated to sports. He manages, since 2002, the Nautical, Diving and Fishing sections. There, he learns about technical diving, and gets certified to service regulators such as Poseidon, Mares, Scubapro, Beuchat, etc.

In 2003, he also takes some other courses, such as Team Management and Customer Service.

Updating his formation everyday, he is still immerse in a variety of courses, being involved in the medical part of diving. Daniel took the TOP course from the (SSI), operating the Hyperbaric Chamber in Playa del Carmen, where he actually works as an Operator.

In 2005 he started to become interested specially for VideoSub, and acquired his own equipment, with which he made diverse documentaries in the Red Sea, Coco´s Island, and obviously in the place where he lives, the Cenotes in the Riviera Maya.

Daniel speaks Spanish and English.

Passionate for Cave and Deep diving, he doesn´t miss the chance to get away and dive into new, unexplored territories.

He actually lives in the Riviera Maya, where he works as Operation Manager for the company Bahia Divers.
